Invitation Golden Jubilee Oration of Indian Orthopaedic Association-2025

The Golden Jubilee Oration was instituted to mark Golden Jubilee of our association in 2005. It is a recognition to a member whose original, Unpublished work is worthy of this prestigious award. The Award is based solely on the value and merit of the manuscript submitted. 

Indian Orthopaedic Association invites applications for the prestigious Golden Jubilee Oration of IOA to be presented during the Annual conference of IOA (IOACON) 2025, Guwahati.

Guidelines & Criteria: 

Eligibility:

  1. The Orator must be a Life Member of the Association. 
  2. It shall be his personal work and work should have been done in India. 
  3. The subject of oration should not have been published or presented in its present form elsewhere. He should certify to that effect. 
  4. Age limit for Golden Jubilee Oration shall be  50 years or above. The cut-off date for age would be 31st December of the year of conference. (31st December2025)
  5. ONLY Selected Candidate will need to submit

    a. One Copy of his work as full paper (Complete manuscript), which should not exceed 20 minutes.

    b. Bio data for introduction before oration.

    c. Certificate of self-declaration with signature mentioning his/her original work done in India and not published/presented in present form anywhere.

Above documents would be submitted to the Secretary General IOA at ioahousedelhi@gmail.com, before a stipulated date announced by the Secretary General IOA .

  6. Those who had submitted application last year and were not selected may also submit the application again mentioning their intent to continue as applicant for the current year.
  7. Selected author must also submit the manuscript for publication in IJO by online submission on IJO Submission Portal in next 3 months so that it can be published within January to June issue in next year after peer review by subject experts and formalities and formats prescribed by IJO. 
  8. The selected manuscript shall become the property of the Association and all such manuscripts shall be kept in I.O.A. Library in New Delhi Office. 
  9. Golden Jubilee Oration award includes: Cash award of Rs. 25,000/-, a certificate and Silver salver.
  10. No Travelling or other allowance shall be paid

Mark the documents as

(A-1) Complete Manuscript in PDF format Blinded (First page should have only subject   name and no Author name or any direct or indirect  identity indication in total content ) to be reviewed by referees.

(A-2) Single Page in PDF with Name of Applicant and Subject only 

(A-3) Certificate of self-declaration with signature of his/her original work done in India and not published/presented in present form in PDF format.

Deadlines: 

a.  Last date for submission is 15th August 2025.

b.  Final decision for selection to be conveyed to selected candidate is after 31st , August 25

Procedure of Selection:

  1. Blinded Manuscripts will be reviewed by an a Committee of IOA of five referees.
  2. This committee of five referees shall screen the full manuscript and the committee’s decision would be final.
  3. Each referee will mark the manuscript. The average of summation of all will be final.

  4. The manuscripts shall be judged or assessed according to following format: Total 100 marks divided as follows:

  a. Content of the study (20%) 
  b. Method of study (40%)
  c. Relevance (20%)
  d. Evidence based conclusion (20%)

  5. The secretary shall send soft copy of all the blinded manuscripts and assessment mark sheet to all the referees in 3rd week of August, 2025. Last Date of receipt of the markings by secretary in above prescribed mark sheet in sealed cover from all referees to IOA House, Delhi shall be 31st August 25. 
  6. The referees may recommend that none of the manuscripts were found to fulfil the criteria. If three out of five referee send this recommendation, the oration will not be presented that year. The President of IOA will introduce the orator. 
  7. Once submitted manuscript shall be considered for 2 years, it will be sent for re-review next year also along with all new entries on request of applicant.

Only Selected candidate is required to send One copy of manuscript, Bio data for introduction before oration and certificate of self-declaration with signature mentioning his/her original work done in India and not published/presented in present form

(Complete manuscript), which will not exceed 30 minutes (20 minutes of reading time plus 10 minutes of introduction of orator and felicitation by cash award. Certificate, silver salver etc.) Only Selected candidate shall submit this hard copy to the Secretary General IOA at IOA House Address by Registered Post, before a stipulated date announced by the Secretary.

Blinded Manuscripts will be reviewed by an Administrative committee of Three referees – appointed by the committee. 

6. This committee of three referees shall screen the full manuscript submitted and the committee’s decision is final. 
7. Each reviewer will mark the manuscript. The average of summation of all will be final. 
8. The manuscripts shall be judged or assessed according to following format: Total 100 

Marks will be divided as follows:
a. Content of the study (20%) 

b. Method of study (40%)
c. Relevance (20%) 

d. Evidence based conclusion (20%) 

10. The Administrative Committee of IOA  IOA shall send a soft copy of all the blinded manuscripts and as above prescribed assessment mark sheet to all the referees in 1st week of August. Last Date of receipt of the markings in above prescribed mark sheet in sealed cover from all referees to IOA House shall be 21st August. 
11. The referees may recommend that none of the manuscripts were found to fulfil the criteria. If three out of three judges send this recommendation, the oration will not be presented that year. The President of IOA will introduce the orator. 
12. Once submitted manuscript shall be considered for 2 years, it will be sent for re-review next year also along with all new entries. Those who had submitted last year must also submit prescribed soft copies again filling form, if they want to apply for current year for their intent to continue as applicant, to be included in current year list 
13. Selected author must submit the manuscript for publication in IJO by online submission on IJO Submission Portal in next 3 months so that it can be published within January to June issue in next year after peer review by subject experts and formalities and formats prescribed by IJO.
